Since Whole Foods was acquired by Amazon a few years ago, there have been a number of changes to their purchasing requirements at a Corporate and Global level. Amazon injected its data-driven insights into Whole Foods and in an attempt to streamline its supply chain, placed a greater emphasis on larger national brands. As it attempted to bring down prices and increase profits, the company also placed limits on what could be sold and demoed in stores, and introduced stocking fees for its suppliers, thus squeezing out smaller businesses such as STACK’D.
As a result, Whole Foods Market has decided that they will no longer be carrying STACK’D on their shelves.
